Whole-person, hormone-informed, psychiatric care grounded in evidence and clinical insight.
About Me
I’m Tara Iacono, DMSc, PA-C, a Physician Assistant specializing in psychiatry and addiction medicine with nearly two decades of clinical experience. I hold a Doctorate in Medical Science with a focus in Healthcare Administration and Leadership, and I have spent my career working at the intersection of compassionate care, evidence-based medicine, and innovative models of psychiatric treatment.
My clinical background spans outpatient psychiatry, addiction treatment, intensive outpatient programs, residential care, and telepsychiatry. I have extensive experience in the pharmacologic management of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). Over time, this work led me to pursue a more functional, root-cause-informed approach to psychiatric care—one that allows space to ask why symptoms developed, not just how to suppress them.
My approach to psychiatry is collaborative, thoughtful, and patient-centered. I believe effective care begins with listening, careful assessment, and shared decision-making. Treatment plans are individualized and may include medication management alongside integrative strategies that support overall mental and physical health. The goal is not quick fixes, but sustainable improvement and long-term stability.
In addition to clinical work, I am passionate about education and leadership within healthcare. I have trained PA and medical students, delivered professional lectures, and contributed to discussions on the modernization of mental health and addiction care. These experiences continue to inform my commitment to ethical, high-quality, and accessible psychiatric treatment
