Services
Functional Health Psychiatry provides comprehensive, fully remote psychiatric care for adults, 18+ across Arizona. Services are grounded in evidence-based psychiatry and informed by a functional, whole-person framework that looks beyond symptoms to better understand underlying contributors to mental health concerns.
All care is delivered through secure telepsychiatry, allowing patients to receive high-quality psychiatric treatment from the comfort of their own homes.
Comprehensive Psychiatric Evaluation
Every patient begins with a thorough psychiatric assessment designed to understand the full context of their mental health. Evaluations include a detailed review of symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, medication history, life experiences, and relevant biological and environmental factors.
This comprehensive approach allows for accurate diagnosis, thoughtful treatment planning, and care that is individualized rather than one-size-fits-all.
Medication Management
Medication management is provided with care, precision, and close follow-up. Treatment decisions are collaborative and based on clinical evidence, patient preferences, and overall health considerations.
When appropriate, medication management may be integrated with lifestyle, nutritional, and behavioral considerations that support mental well-being. The goal is effective symptom relief while minimizing side effects and supporting long-term stability.
Hormone Replacement Therapy & Mental Health Care
At Functional Health Psychiatry, we recognize that mental health does not exist in isolation from the body. Hormonal transitions — particularly perimenopause and menopause — can significantly impact mood, cognition, sleep, anxiety levels, energy, and overall emotional resilience.
Many women are told their symptoms are “just stress” or “just aging.” In reality, fluctuating or declining estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels can profoundly affect neurotransmitter function, brain signaling, and stress response systems.
We provide evidence-based, hormone-informed psychiatric care for women navigating perimenopause and menopause.
When to Consider Hormone Evaluation
You may benefit from a hormone-focused evaluation if you are experiencing:
• New-onset anxiety or panic in your 40s or 50s
• Worsening depression despite prior stability
• Brain fog or cognitive slowing
• Sleep disruption
• Irritability or mood swings
• Decreased motivation or resilience
• Night sweats or hot flashes
• Changes in libido
• Treatment-resistant mood symptoms
These changes are not “all in your head.” They may reflect neuroendocrine shifts.
My Approach
We integrate psychiatry and hormone medicine through a comprehensive, individualized assessment that may include:
• Detailed psychiatric and medical history
• Evaluation of perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms
• Targeted laboratory testing when clinically indicated
• Review of current medications
• Lifestyle and stress assessment
• Trauma-informed care considerations
When appropriate, we offer hormone replacement therapy (HRT) using evidence-based protocols tailored to each patient’s clinical picture, risk profile, and treatment goals.
Our approach emphasizes:
✔ Safety and careful screening
✔ Shared decision-making
✔ Evidence-based prescribing
✔ Ongoing monitoring and follow-up
✔ Integration with psychiatric treatment when needed
Psychiatry + Hormone Integration
Hormones influence serotonin, dopamine, GABA, sleep regulation, cognitive function, and stress response systems. For some women, traditional psychiatric medications alone are not sufficient during midlife transitions.
By addressing both neurobiology and endocrine health, we aim to provide more comprehensive and sustainable symptom relief.
This is not cosmetic medicine. It is brain-body medicine.
Who I Serve
I work with women who:
• Are navigating perimenopause or menopause
• Want a thoughtful, medical approach to HRT
• Have mood or cognitive symptoms that may be hormonally influenced
• Desire whole-person, root-cause mental health care
• Prefer a collaborative, trauma-informed approach
Services are provided virtually to patients located in Arizona.
Functional, Root-Cause–Informed Psychiatry
In addition to standard psychiatric care, a functional health perspective is used to explore factors that may contribute to or perpetuate mental health symptoms. This may include attention to:
Inflammation and metabolic health
Sleep and circadian rhythms
Nutrition and gut-brain interactions
Chronic stress and trauma
Environmental and lifestyle influences
This approach is not about replacing evidence-based psychiatry, but about expanding the clinical lens to better support healing and resilience.
Treatment of Common Conditions
Functional Health Psychiatry provides care for adults experiencing a range of psychiatric concerns, including:
Depression and mood disorders
Anxiety disorders
Trauma- and stress-related conditions
Bipolar disorder
Attention and concentration concerns
Co-occurring substance use disorders
Care is individualized, collaborative, and adjusted over time based on clinical response and patient goals.
Ongoing Follow-Up & Continuity of Care
Mental health care is an ongoing process. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring progress, adjusting treatment as needed, and supporting sustained improvement over time. Continuity of care is a core value of the practice, with appointments designed to feel attentive and unhurried.
Telepsychiatry for Arizona Residents
All services are provided via secure telehealth for adults located in Arizona. Telepsychiatry allows for flexible scheduling, increased access to care, and continuity without the barriers of travel or commuting.
